Biography

At age 25, Boston native J. Lye, is one of the newest rappers to make waves in the Boston underground music scene. Mentored by Boston rapper, Kabir Sen, J. Lye began writing at just 13, and by the age of 15 was recording his own music. J. Lye has been featured on popular music blogs such as, YouHeardThatNew.com and Goodmusicallday.com. He has also been called Boston's "HOTTEST new artist and the next Drake” by the well-respected hip-hop site Rapgenius.com.

In 2011, J. Lye came in first place at the "Sounds of The Underground" competition beating out nationwide acts such as AER, only months before releasing his debut mixtape “Compete Until Success”. In 2013, J. Lye continued his success by winning KarmaloopTV’s “Best Underground Musician” contest. 

J. Lye currently performs with a DJ, but sometimes adds a new element to his music by performing with a live band. He has performed venues such as the Tsongas Arena at Umass Lowell, Collegefest at the Hynes Convention Center, and the Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge, MA. He has opened for artists such as Dipset, Meek Mill, Roscoe Dash, Machine Gun Kelly, Los, Hoodie Allen, Chris Webby, and co-headlined with acts such as Cam Meekins, Radical Something, & Sebastian Mikael. Combining his extraordinary talent with an intense passion for music, J. Lye brings a sound that is guaranteed to please. While J. Lye is currently unsigned, it is surely around the corner, and his next tape "Behind The Lyes" will be released during the fall of 2017!
